The commercial was broadcast on television in Scotland between 1990 and 1992. Specifically, it aired heavily from 1990 to Ocober 1991.
This commercial was the official introduction and launch of Brooke Bond Scottish Blend Tea. If you listen carefully, you can hear the narrator say: “Now, from Brooke Bond, there’s a new tea specially blended to match . . .”
As many Scottish Blend commercials, humor played an important part. The ad opens with: “There’s always been something special about Scottish water.”
The commercial ends with the brand’s original slogan: “Scottish Blend. It tastes as good as it sounds.”
If you notice the box in the ad, you can see that the packaging was branded under Brooke Bond. Unilever acquired Brooke Bond in 1984. Several years later, Unilever removed the Broke Bond name and tied Scottish Blend closer to PG Tips.
